2001 Season - Week 11

24 to go

This newsletter seems a bit premature as there are still 24 BUMS players left to play in the Sunday Night Bears Vikings game and on MNF between The Rams and Buccaneers. Jailbreak!!! Since Trading Day things have got quite heated at the bottom of the table. Gully got this weeks highest score with 39 points to go with 29 he scored last week. That 68 point fortnight has lifted him to 7th in the table, but was surpassed by the 74 points scored by Phil who with 35 this week still has Marty Booker to go in the Sunday Night game. Cheryl has put up 66 points in the last two weeks and she has Trung Canidate to play on MNF. David Stamp’s visit to the drop zone lasted just a week as he totalled 37 this week with Cris Carter and Dave Moore still to play. Gotta feel sorry for AP who put up 31 points this week but still can’t catch the 7 infront who are fighting for 5 Premiership places. Fame to Shame (almost) Meanwhile at the top of the table Marcus has closed to 24 points after Chief managed just 4 points- that’s a drop of 54 points from last weeks HoF showing. He’s still got Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss to go, so maybe another 30 points are to be had. Marcus put up 31 points and he still has Warrick Dunn to play. Running Backs Return It was great to see Garrison Hearst score his first rushing TD in almost 3 years after a career-ending injury. He is the only player to return from Avacular Necrosis, the loss of blood to the bone which ended Bo Jackson’s career. John has been waiting 11 weeks for it to happen and within 30 minutes of play he’d scored his second rushing TD of the last 3 years. And what about the name of Washington’s scorer this week, Ki-Jana Carter the oft injured Bengal former first round pick re-discovered paydirt. How about them Redskins, start 0-5 and then win 5 on the bounce to move within one game of the Division leaders Philadelphia, who they beat this week. That’s the NFL LEast for you. We’re More Famous Than I Knew Unseen by us until this week on the Channel 5 MNF show last week when we had our email discussed in full, at half time Mike was heard to say “Phil say’s hi to the BUMS”
